Chapter 4 of My Poor Husband is a Billionaire Mafia: A Mafia Arranged Marriage Romance

My Poor Husband is a Billionaire Mafia by Sheila Gates

Remy Stone walked down the hallway with quick strides, his mind consumed with the thought of Jacob James and his vile actions. He knew that he had to act fast and put a stop to this madness. As he approached the James Group's office, he could hear the sound of Jacob James' wicked laughter echoing through the halls.

Remy burst into the room, his eyes fixed on Jacob James, who was too distracted with his secretary to notice his entrance. With a swift movement, Remy grabbed Jacob by the collar and slammed him against the wall.

"You bastard! What have you done to Adalyn's family? How could you be so heartless?"

Jacob struggled to break free from Remy's grip, but he was no match for the Asura Godfather's strength.

"Let go of me, you freak! You have no right to interfere in my affairs."

Remy tightened his grip and leaned in close to Jacob's face. "You've crossed the line, Jacob. And now, you're going to pay the price."

As Jacob continued to struggle, Remy reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife. The secretary's eyes widened in fear as she watched the scene unfold before her.

Remy raised the knife and plunged it into Jacob's chest. With a gasp, Jacob slumped to the ground, his lifeless eyes staring up at the ceiling.

Remy turned to the secretary, who was shaking with fear. "Get out of here. And tell everyone you see that no one messes with Adalyn James."

With a final glance at Jacob's body, Remy walked out of the office, his heart heavy with the weight of what he had just done. But he knew that it was the only way to protect Adalyn and her family from the evil that lurked in the shadows.

The phone on Jacob James' desk rang, and he impatiently answered it. His father, David James, was on the other end, asking if Jacob had taken back his uncle's house.

"What's wrong with telling them to get out of The James Family now? I've told Grandpa, and he's agreed," Jacob replied, annoyed.

David James scolded his son. "Foolish! Adalyn James just got married, and we are kicking them out of The James Family. What will outsiders think of us?"

Jacob was frustrated with his father's concern for outsiders. He tossed the phone aside and made plans for the evening with his secretary.

Later, Jacob arrived at the Matthew Group with a bandage in his hand, ready to sign the contract. But when he approached the receptionist, he was surprised to find that she didn't know who he was.

"Your Mr. Matthew, didn't you tell us that you're going to talk to The James Family about the contract today?" Jacob said, offended.

The receptionist apologized and quickly took him to the second-floor lounge. Despite the setback, Jacob was still confident in his reputation and abilities.

Jacob James sauntered into the second-floor lounge, led by a staff member who seemed unbeatable. "Mr. Matthew, The James Family grandson, has arrived," the staff member announced.

"Oh? He's here. Then let him wait first," Mr. Matthew replied from behind the closed door.

Jacob James took a seat in the lounge, tapping his foot impatiently. He had been waiting for over an hour when the door finally creaked open.

"Sorry, Jacob James. Mr. Matthew said he had something to do at zero hours and asked you to come back tomorrow," the staff member said apologetically.

Jacob James could feel his anger boiling inside him. "What? This is how you treat your customers, Matthew Group? I've been waiting here for over an hour. Do you know how big this contract project is? A hundred million! Now you're telling me that Mr. Matthew has something to do with it? I think you're just doing it on purpose."

The staff member was sweating profusely. "Sorry, Jacob James. Mr. Matthew really said that to me. If you don't believe me, please call to confirm."

Jacob James reached for his phone to call, but he couldn't help but slam the contract on the table with a loud snap. "You know how much time you've delayed me? I have to see Mr. Matthew today!"

Mr. Matthew emerged from behind the door, waving the staff member away. "What's the matter, Jacob James? You seem to be very unhappy with me," he said, eyeing Jacob James with a hint of amusement.

Jacob James tried to hide his frustration with a false smile. "Mr. Matthew, what are you talking about? How dare I displease you? We agreed to discuss the contract today. I can't keep Mr. Matthew waiting."

He handed over the contract, hoping to move the conversation forward. But Mr. Matthew's response caught him off guard. "Contract? I said to sign with you?"

Confusion clouded Jacob James' face. "Mr. Matthew, what do you mean by that?"

Mr. Matthew sneered at Jacob James. "What do you mean, you The James Family let you, a loser, come to talk about cooperation with us, Matthew Group, and you ask me what you mean? What qualifications do you have to sign a contract with me?"

Jacob James felt his face flush with anger. He was the next heir of The James Family! "Mr. Matthew, is there any misunderstanding between us? Before my father came, he said he had already talked to your side and asked me to come over and sign the contract directly."

But Mr. Matthew was unfazed. "Humph, boy, I did talk to your father to cooperate with The James Family, but this contract is not with you. You must come to your cousin Adalyn James. This contract can be signed with her, understand? I don't want to talk to you!"

Jacob James' frustration boiled over, and he gritted his teeth. This was a project that The James Family had negotiated at great expense. If he failed to secure the contract, his grandfather would never forgive him.

"No, Mr. Matthew," Jacob James protested, but before he could finish, dozens of security guards burst into the room. "Throw him out. I'm upset when I see him!" Mr. Matthew commanded.

The security guards grabbed Jacob James roughly and dragged him out of the company's front door. Jacob James yelped as he hit the pavement outside, feeling a jolt of pain run up his already fractured left.

He gave Matthew Group a ferocious glare and instantly understood what had happened.

"Adalyn James! I never thought you were in cahoots with Mr. Matthew. No wonder you had the audacity to let your useless husband break my arm yesterday. It was all because of Matthew of Matthew Group! You and Mr. Matthew are nothing but lowlifes! But mark my words; you'll get what's coming to you soon enough."

At the Matthew Group Lounge, Mr. Matthew watched Jacob James storm off before dialing a number.

"Brother, everything's gone according to plan."

A low voice responded from the other end of the line.

"Excellent job, Matthew. You've done well."

"Boss, may I ask who this person is? I've never seen anyone command your respect like this."

Mr. Matthew pondered the identity of his older brother. His brother's power and influence were unmatched.

"Victor Rodriguez, this is something you need not concern yourself with. Just remember that the person I asked you to take care of is my big brother."

His big brother? The mere thought of it was enough to make Victor Rodriguez's head spin.

"Thank you for your guidance, boss. You can trust me to handle this discreetly."

Victor Rodriguez had been around the block a few times, and his experience had taught him to always be prepared for the worst.

"Very well. Keep me informed of any developments."

"Don't worry, boss. I've got this under control."

After hanging up the phone, Victor Rodriguez breathed a sigh of relief. He wiped the beads of sweat off his forehead and tried to steady his pounding heart.

"The James Family has no idea what they're up against. They've crossed a line they shouldn't have."

Is all this just for Adalyn James? The boss must really have it bad for her.

It was unbelievable, almost too good to be true. Victor Rodriguez shook his head, trying to dispel his disbelief.

He rubbed his legs, which had gone numb from sitting for too long, and gazed off into the distance. In the this City of Ambition, anything was possible.

If he played his cards right, he could ascend to new heights. Heights that were previously unimaginable.

But for now, he would focus on completing the task at hand. He had a job to do, and he intended to do it well.
